Kids Program

Mizfit’s kids’ classes are designed with your child’s overall wellness in mind. Our goal is to make exercise fun, and to build a DESIRE to make it a part of their lives as well as EDUCATING them to be a part of their community. Doing so can change their lives forever.

Did you know that…

• the American Heart Association reports that over the past 30 years, the prevalence of overweight in children 6-11 has risen by more than 300%?

• the AHA also suggests that physical activity at early ages may help reduce the risk of chronic illnesses over a lifetime?

• the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 20 to 30 minutes of vigorous activity at least 3 times weekly for school-age children?

Our classes combine innovative and trendy international dance themes with unconventional takes on traditional styles such as Salsa, Merengue and Belly Dance. Taken together, they provide a venue for and encourage self-expression, social interaction & multi-cultural understanding.

A kids’ favorite is Zumba, which combines Latin music with aerobics and dance to help achieve & maintain a healthy body, attitude and spirit. It’s so EASY, FUN & EFFECTIVE that kids won’t even realize they’re exercising!  Another program is Hoopdance, which takes the Hula Hoop craze of the 1950’s to a whole new level. The rhythmic movement of the hoop helps build core body strength, develops balance & coordination, and is a great cardiovascular workout! And like all of our programs, it’s creative and fun!

We at Mizfit provide classes free of threat, engage students by teaching through the use of multiple intelligences , and curriculum that connects to the community and the students' lives.  We  extend the classroom into the neighborhood, town, and environment by integrating them into the curriculum in meaningful ways.   For more information on these brain research concepts, check out Susan Kovalik Associate Ann Ross's Explanation of ITI's Brain Research Concepts .

In 1983, Harvard professor Dr. Howard Gardner published a groundbreaking work titled Frames Of Mind: The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences in which he proposed that there are multiple ways in which we are "smart," not just the verbal and mathematical intelligences captured on traditional IQ tests. Each person has a different intellectual composition. We can improve education by addressing the multiple intelligences of our students.  Mizfit's classes help to nurture and strengthen learning by using some of the multiple intelligences.
